Every Gulf Wars, there is a war point A&S Champions battle between Ansteorra and Trimaris. Each Kingdom is allowed to have up to three entries from their allied Kingdoms. Meridies has been encouraged to participate this year, so we will be selecting two Champions/entries, a Champion and an Alternate, for our ally Kingdom.
A pool of champions will be chosen by the laurels, one each from Principality A&S, the Regional Faire at Fall Crown Tourney, Magna Faire, Midwinter A&S, and Candlemas Collegium in Grey Niche. From this pool of 5, Their Highnesses Ailgheanan and Ashildr will choose the Champion and Alternate.
All categories are eligible for consideration as Champion.
For the Regional Faire at Fall Crown Tourney, if you are interested in being considered for the Champion, please make a note of this with your registration, so that appropriate judges can be assembled.
At Magna Faire, we will consider entries from both the Magna Faire & the Kingdom rules Faire.
Application for Consideration as Gulf Wars Champion
If you wish to be considered for the Champion, you should plan to be able to attend Gulf Wars if at all possible. You should also let us know if you want your item to be considered for Champion, when you enter it in Faires. If you don't tell us you want to be considered, we won't consider your entry. This will help us with the logistics of the selection process.
Entrants will be judged on the criteria used at Kingdom Arts and Sciences Faire. You should strive to achieve high scores in each element of documentation, technique, authenticity, etc. However, the entry receiving the highest score will not necessarily be chosen as Champion. The laurels will be reviewing all highly scored entries designated as a Champion entry and reaching a concensus as to which entry they feel best represents the quality and achievement Meridies has to offer. In order to have your entry designated as a Champion entry, please fill out this form and submit it with your entry for consideration.
Also, we want a pool of 5 separate entries; therefore, if one entry shows particularly well in multiple faires, it can only be selected once to be in the pool we present to Their Highnesses.
This process will be refined over time, so your constructive comments and suggestions are welcome as we work through this process.
Entries from a previous KASF: At the Regional Faire @ Crown Tourney, entries from a previous KASF will be allowed for consideration as Champion. This is because there is very short notice for this Faire. However, for all other faires, there is an expectation that you will have been working on new entries. Therefore, Champion entries at Principality A&S, Magna Faire, Midwinter, and Candlemas may NOT have been previously judged for scores at a Kingdom A&S Faire.
Help us out: If you are entering the Champion battle, please bring an extra set of documentation, color photos of your entry (static, costume review), perhaps a video of your entry (performing arts, costume review), an extra bottle of the same brewing, etc. Their Highnesses may not be able to attend all of the actual faires; it will help immensely if we can show Them your entry, so They can make as informed a decision as possible on Their overall choices.
